So how long will it take for blockchain technology to become widely used in our society? Experts predict that it will take more than five years for blockchain technology to peak in most industries. Gartner, a U.S. IT market research and consulting firm, said in its 2017 Blockchain Heap Cycle report that the market and public interest in blockchain-related technologies such as distributed ledgers, virtual currency wallets and consensus algorithms are at its peak. In addition, most IT consulting agencies predict that blockchain technology will reach the peak of innovation in two to three years, and be commercialized in five to 10 years, so that stable services can be delivered around 2025. Among the areas where blockchain technology can be used especially effectively are financial areas such as banks and investment services, health care including insurance and health care, logistics and distribution sectors and public services.

[Cube Intelligence] The autonomous vehicle of Cube AI ‘Vision centric Autonomous Driving System’

[Cube Intelligence] The autonomous vehicle that is being developed from the scratch by Cube was granted with temporary autonomous driving permit by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MoLIT). It was introduced in Kukmin Ilbo, Kuki News article.


The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MoLIT) approved a temporary driving license for autonomous vehicle under development by Cube Intelligence (CEO Richard Biggs). On 9th January 2019, Cube Intelligence announced the test drive with the temporary license.

Cube Intelligence is developing a ‘Vision centric Autonomous Driving System’ based on deep learning technology along with the incubating subsidiary Cube AI. Tesla is approaching autonomous driving the same way, by combining the Vision and Deep Learning technology. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, previously announced that they will not use the pricy Lidar or sensors. Rather solely rely on camera recognition instead for autonomous driving.

Vision system of the Cube, can be considered as applying the similar mechanism of how human drives into autonomous driving system. We human drives by seeing the road ahead with the eye and then making a decision with the brain. Cube’s autonomous driving system emulates the process by recognizing the road ahead with the camera and then deep learning algorithm processing the vision image and making decisions.

[큐브 인텔리전스] 큐브에서 자체 개발 중인 자율주행자동차가 국토교통부로부터 ‘자율주행자동차 임시운행허가’ 승인을 받은 내용이 국민일보 큐키뉴스 기사로 소개됐습니다.


큐브 인텔리전스(대표 리차드 빅스)의 자율주행자동차가 국토교통부로부터 ‘자율주행자동차 임시운행허가’ 승인을 받았다. 큐브 인텔리전스는 앞으로 운행허가를 바탕으로 시험 주행에 돌입한다고 1월 9일 밝혔다.

큐브 인텔리전스는 자체 인큐베이팅 회사 ‘큐브 AI’를 통해 딥러닝 기술을 기반으로 한 ‘비전 중심 자율주행 시스템’을 개발 중이다. 비전 기술을 딥러닝 기법으로 자율주행에 적용하려는 시도는 테슬라가 대표적이다. 테슬라의 엘론 머스크 대표는 앞으로 고가의 라이더 등의 센서를 사용하지 않고 카메라로 판단을 하여 자율주행을 하도록 하겠다고 밝힌 바 있다.

큐브의 비전 기술을 통한 자율주행은 사람이 운전하는 과정을 자율주행자동차에 그대로 적용하는 것이라고 볼 수 있다. 사람은 눈으로 앞을 보고 머리로 판단을 하여 운전을 하게 된다. 큐브의 자율주행자동차 기술도 카메라로 전방을 보고, 들어오는 시각 이미지를 딥러닝으로 판단하여 자동차를 자율주행하도록 하는 방식이다.
